At Child First Consultancy, we are dedicated to advocating for children and victims at risk of, or currently involved in, the Criminal Justice System. We are focused on making academic research and evidence base an operational reality and support partners to embed relational, child first and strengths based approaches to adolescents at risk outside the family home.

At Child First Consultancy, it's all about the people! We believe that collaboration and relationships are at the heart of successful youth justice partnerships and therefore trusted relationships are central to our approach and becoming critical friends. We provide high support and high challenge for partnerships to ensure children are seen 'As Children'; interventions are focused on 'Building Pro-social identity'; 'Collaboration with children' is seen and understood as an intervention in it's own right; and services are challenged to ensure they 'divert children, families and victims from stigma'.
We collaborate with a wide range of community partners, including Youth Justice Services (YJS), Local Authority-Children's Services and Community Safety Partnerships, Police Services, Education, OPCCs and VRUs and other Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Organisations. By working together, we are able to drive evidence based approaches and make a greater impact in our community.
Our approach focuses on partnering with local criminal justice and children's partnerships and working over sustained period of time to embed the contemporary evidence base of 'what works' to improve outcomes for children, families and victims of crime.
We get alongside partnerships and offer bespoke packages of consultancy and support, tailored to local need.
We offer consultancy services to support inspection readiness, with a focus on HMIP and JTAI Inspections. Supporting readiness for strategic and operational partnerships via audit, Multi-Agency Case Discussions (MACDs), training and workforce development and Board Improvement.
We support strategic partnerships with continuous improvement and driving improvement plans post inspection activity.
We deliver service wide, case, thematic and multi-agency audits, often supporting strategic partnerships with service diagnostic and improvement planning.
We complete critical and extended partnership learning reviews following Community Safeguarding and Public Protection Incidents.
We coordinate Multi-Agency Case Discussions and Learning, supporting challenge and improvement across partnerships.
We provide single and multi-agency training in a range of practice areas, including:
Our approach works alongside local areas to review practice and procedures and ensure the contemporary evidence base of Child First and current Inspection Methodology is embedded in policy and practice guidance
We provide keynote and seminar based talks, specifically focusing on the application of the academic evidence base in practice. Aiming to inspire partnerships to commence or enhance their own Child First journey.
We provide one to one, bespoke coaching support and wider programmes of supervision and support for services and targeted groups. Including, supervision for partners.
